Last week, I was traveling for a couple of days for a location photo shoot
that was full of all things pretty and romantic on the coast.
And of course, in between the photography and exploring…
I did a little bit of doing nothing but sitting on the beach with my toes in the sand as well.
Because, you just have to do that sometimes.
And on the way out of the city,
I made a quick stop by the flower market for Christmas greens…
yes, I said the Christmas word.
(tomorrow you will get a sneak peek at the kitchen)
And there were a couple gorgeous vintage rugs that came to Mama…
I am a huge vintage rug fan- but truth be told- I don’t have them everywhere in the house.
Just a few spots.
Living in the country with a whole lot of pea gravel and dirt just outside the doors,
I tend to keep the main area floors bare for a simple and easy to keep clean look.
And I don’t like a lot of colors and patterns underfoot. I am a bit weird that way I suppose.
I prefer French aubussons that are soft and faded… and vintage Turkish that have patterns but that don’t shout.
Even when I keep the floors on the clean and bare side…
sometimes, I like to toss down a couple rugs that are
subtle and sweet for a bit of warmth.
The ones with old dreamy texture, faded colors and muted patterns.
I mix and mingle them here and there. Like in the attic, which actually has 3 rugs right now.
And these 2 new ones?
Well… I think they may land in my bedroom or right here in the living room.

This rug is so soft in color and charm. With the subtle pattern and details- it absolutely knocked my socks off when I found it. And you know that barely blushing pink is perfection for my style.
And the other one has a bit more nubby detail and brighter (yet faded) colors. Not sure how that makes sense- but it does- haha.
They are each vintage rugs – not the reproduction kind that show up and look a bit shiny.
I will do a proper photo shoot (these are quick iphone snaps mostly)
and am searching for the BEST sources for purchasing vintage rugs at the best prices-because sometimes you just bump into things like these rugs- and other times- you literally have to search for them everywhere to find what you are looking for.

Keep an eye out for that post which will be coming your way soon.
And the ceiling… I am in LOVE with how it turned out.
Debating on bleaching that very old original to the house
reclaimed wood-
but kind of loving the French Country vibe it brings as well.
Happy Monday everyone.
The rugs are so soft and pretty. LOVE your beam ceiling.
Oooh! Really loving your new vintage rugs, too. Such pretty soft colors! Opening up the ceiling in your living room really was a great idea. Love it! ❤️
Barb ????????
Beautiful rugs! They are hard to find and when I do run across them, they are usually very expensive 🙁 I love the beams you added to your room. They added warmth while accentuating the ceiling height.
J'admire ton magnifique miroir !…
Gros bisous ????
Your new rugs are beautiful! The only concern I would have with antique rugs is how are they cleaned before your purchase and then how will you maintain them? Does a professional carpet cleaning service clean these rugs, or do they have to be sent away for special cleaning? I also live in a country setting and I have hardwood floors and use the swifer daily……….. I'm always amazed how much dirt comes up and my kids are grown and no animals.
I love your coffee table. Where did you get it?
Yes, I love the coffee table as well….. if you find out where it was purchased will you inform me too. Thanks
Coming soon- will share here when it is available. 🙂
