This week, the weekend view is looking like it will be a hot one.
Feeling Hot, hot, hot
We went from fabulous unseasonably cooler weather to in 100 degree weather pretty much overnight. And I have to say, the heat is not my favorite when it is above about 85 so 100 is feeling HOT. I know much of the country is affected by a crazy heat wave right now- I hope you all are staying cool! We don’t have central air conditioning in our house-we usually stay cool enough even when it is this hot but we decided to add a mini-split to the bedroom last year for heat and air -it is getting used this weekend for sure. And the plants in the garden are doing mostly okay- but definitely the heat is getting to some of them. It should start cooling down a bit tomorrow thankfully.
Silkies
When it is this hot- we turn the misters on for our chickens. Something maybe you aren’t familiar with is that chickens can overheat fairly easily. The lady we bought our chicks from said she loses more chickens to heat than to cold. We installed a small air conditioner in the barn and coop to keep them all from overheating when inside but most often they simply enjoy the misters being on. It also makes the ground wet which they love to scratch and lay in .
Flower Fun
I got a delivery of special order fresh flowers from the market last week before the heat moved in. Some always on repeat favorites and some for a special photo styling I am working on. It is hard to have any flowers shipped when it gets too hot- they simply melt even when they are overnighted.
Junkin Fun
I mentioned we like to do the thrift stores on Thursdays- but this week, we changed the family dinner day with the kids and grand kids to Thursday because of the heat. So, instead, I just shopped on marketplace and scored a set of antique chairs. Yes, I know. We just picked up those other antique chairs last week- but we already established that I have a chair collecting disorder haha- and these are for a photo shoot so that helps too. They have a bit of an interesting story actually, so I will share that in a separate post.
Christmas In July
Happy July!! Officially, we are now in Christmas in July season!! I mentioned last week that it is going to be an extra special Christmas in July this year.
