This week, the weekend view is looking like Christmas celebrations, 80’s band concert fun & rejuvenating after a busy holiday week.
Carmel with Family
I mentioned last week about what a treat it was to get away for the weekend with my brother and dad in Carmel. My sister in law snapped this photo of them both having a conversation on the beach after we left. Such a great in the moment snap of these two peas in a pod!

Christmas Day
Oh what fun we had on Christmas Day! We hosted Christmas at our house this year so all the big kids were home and the grand babies were in the house. While it is always special to celebrate Christmas with family anywhere, there is something about the bustle of getting the house ready and twinkling away, the bread baking in the oven and soaking up all the magic that fills the house during the holiday season with family at home. I love it. Even with all the busy cooking and cleaning, busy and yes, even the chaos and falling into bed by 9pm afterwards- the house full of our kids and their kids is the best.
80’s Band Rock Concert
We didn’t do much as far as adult gifts this year. We always get our big kids a little something but we all decided to mostly focus on the kids. That said, my oldest son surprised us with tickets to an 80’s band rock concert a couple hours away. We hopped in the car, jammed all the tunes and enjoyed watching Bret Michaels (of Poison fame) and reliving those monsters of rock concert moments for a bit. One of my husbands favorite songs from high school was Every Rose Has It’s Thorn and so that was a treat for him. We also lucked out with the weather- it happened to be we could make the trek up and over the mountains to get to the concert and even back up and over the mountains to get home in between the back to back dumping rain – which is dumping snow and closed roads in the mountains. It was a fun night and honestly, I need to know what kind of vitamins Bret Michaels is taking to be jumping and bouncing all around the stage like he does in his 60’s.

New Years Reflections & Dreams
I can’t believe it is almost already 2025. The new year brings reflections, resolutions, goals and dreams to the forefront. This year, I am feeling quite reflective and at the same time, energized for fresh pages to write on. We have some fun dreams we are working on and I am looking forward to sharing more about those in 2025 and beyond and of course, will be doing some reflections posts here next week along with focusing on intentions, manifesting and slow living.
Of course, every year I ask what you would like to see more of here on the blog- please leave me a comment or send me an email if you prefer and let me know your thoughts!

Before we jump into the New Year- we are gearing up for some NYE fun. I will be honest, I am usually in my snugglie robe by the fire on NYE but I just might put a sparkly dress on for a bit. Stay tuned for a NYE post with some decor and table setting ideas that are perfect for a gathering of friends and family or just a quiet night for 2.

If it ain’t broke…the adage goes…CHEERS to the YEARS!! franki
Nice photo of one of our favorite places. My wife and I sat on that same beach for aout 1 1/2 hours three weeks ago and watched a beautiful sunset on an afternoon that had blue sky and was almost 70 degrees. We get to Carmel and Pacific Grove every couple of months or so.
Your posts are fabulous but I would like more on how to get the look of the thrifting finds. Everything is always lovely and I need to know how to make that happen. Have a sparkly New Years.
more pictures of thrift finds in your home.
I love your thrifting finds because what you find and what you do with them is so amazing! also, how is the airstream doing? Have you ever lit it up for christmas? Just some thoughts…happy new year to you and your family courtney!
Hi Linda! Yes, we did light it up for Christmas- you can see the photos of it in my Christmas book 🙂
Hi Courtney, Happy New Year! The Christmas storage tips were very helpful. As for what I’d lije to see this year it would be more French Country decorating ideas. Also where to purchase French Country furniture, chandeliers, outdoor lighting, bedding, fabrics (especially toiles), accessories, area rugs etc. And websites that sell vintage french country furniture at reasonable prices. Thank you!
