Welcome to the weekend view.
Family Fun
We had a fun family day with all the grand babies and big kids last weekend and then we babysat 3 of our grands yesterday. Lots of fun taking them to the park, playing in their sprinkler and eating all the popsicles but unfortunately, we did have a bee sting incident too. Sweet Jio who is almost 1 was on the lawn and put his hand down on a bee. Since we do have some folks with pretty big reactions to bee stings in our family, it is always a bit of a worry not knowing how the babies will react but a little bit of love and some baking soda and he was fine before we knew it.

All the Pretty Flowers
My husband came home with 3 buckets full of beautiful blooms from Trader Joe’s last week. He knew I was working on several photography projects and saw the flowers were fully stocked when he stopped in. He picked up a lot of my favorites – he knows me well!

Vintage Metal Barn Love
I have been on the hunt for a vintage barn to have re-built and so I am always finding myself falling in love with various buildings that have amazing character. This one was talking to me – all the vines all over the old metal was such perfection.

Moody Sunset Skies
We have had some unusual for us summer weather recently- honestly, it has been glorious! We have had cooler days instead of the usual triple digit heat in July and even a couple sprinkles and thunderstorms. Mostly thunder and lightning since there was not enough rain to even water the plants- but there was enough moisture in the air to create some beautiful colors & painted sunset skies.

A Little Stinker
If you follow me along on instagram- you know we have a skunk who is getting into our chicken yard. It is an ongoing battle to keep him out- and I have gotten a ton of suggestions and tried various things. I will do a blog post this week sharing all the details and what we are doing- what has worked and what hasn’t. Stay tuned.
Happy Sunday friends.
You did pick up the metal pieces? They looked interesting. Bee sting using baking soda?
Oh I would have loved the metal barn but no, it wasn’t for sale, I was just admiring it. And yes, I learned a long time ago that if you mix baking soda with a bit of water to make a paste, it is good to put that on a bee sting to calm it and help draw out the poison.
Thank you I have never heard that.Rest assure I will remember it.
I just read about “round barns” in the 18oo’s…Mostly in Iowa, Illinois & Indiana. The inside structure reminded me of ancient cathedrals…what technology!! franki
Baking soda yes but even mud will help draw out the poison if you’re qithout baking soda. Glad baby is okay.
and… what a glorious husband!
baking soda works because the venom is acidic, neutralizing it. i have had great success causing disinterest in my yard for skunks, by sprinkling blood meal, added benefit, it also fertalizes.
sorry for the caps, not sure how to fix this. Kim
