It’s that time again… all random this and that on the weekend time.
This week, it is all about fun- garden roses, a shopping spree for you and more.
Garden Roses
There is just something about those pretty garden roses… the ruffly layers and layers of petals, that intoxicating scent and they just look beautiful no matter where you put them.
A surprise box arrived from my friends at Grace Rose Farm the other day and inside was a bouquet of beauties. They have been on my nightstand and falling asleep to their scent is such a treat. If you are looking for a place to get fresh cut garden roses to treat yourself or someone else- You can use my affiliate link at Grace Rose Farm for 10% off your order -use FRENCHCOUNTRYCOTTAGE10
Garden Cloche
Lot’s of questions about where to get that beautiful willow garden cloche in my post about our new garden last week. It has been out of stock since I had ordered it in February – but I got a notification the other day that it was back in stock and placed an order for a few more. If you are looking to add some of that charm to your garden- order your own willow cloche here.
$500 Lamps Plus shopping spree- wrapping up
Book Celebration month continues!! Have you entered for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree to Lamps Plus yet? Just one more day to enter- so go do it now if you haven’t yet! I will be announcing the winner next week- and announcing the next giveaway as well! Stay tuned.
Farmhouse tables
This week, we are going to be talking farmhouse tables. And specifically farmhouse tables with vintage chairs – and how easy it is to change the look with a simple swap or mix and mingle. We are also going to jump into another ‘Behind the book’ post and talk about how a styling worked. Stay tuned for a video and all the details.
Barn progress
Do you remember I mentioned we were looking into adding a few chicks and possibly goats to the property? We have several acres of property here and are looking into fostering or adopting them – and my husband has been busy fixing up an old building on our property for a proper barn for them.
It is basically a chicken mansion at this point. For very tiny chicks. lol.
I sure wish we could fix everything out there right now with kindness, pretty photos, flower, good energy and thoughts. It isn’t for lack of trying that is for sure! 2020 has been just a tad bit rocky so far in so many ways (understatement of the year! ) and though I am looking for the beauty in the world, in a moment or a pretty bloom and sharing that with you all- that doesn’t mean I don’t see and feel the weight of how much is broken all around. I wish we could reset so many things and just focus on kindness and beauty -as we have all said so many times this year already- we are all in this together. So what I can do is to keep sharing beauty and joy in the hopes that maybe it will help someone and brighten their day- some days that is harder than others for sure.
Coming your way
Wrapping up the Lamps Plus Giveaway– and sharing the next one this week.
Behind the book: Have you wondered what goes into a photo shoot for a blog or book styling? Some of the behind the scenes might surprise you- and this week, I am kicking off a series on how I worked on the book called ‘The Making of Inspired Gatherings” and it is all about the idea, the planning and what went into some of those stylings in my new book.
Stay tuned also for a fun interview with my friend KariAnne at Thistlewood Farms as we jump in and talk about one of her favorites in Inspired Gatherings.
The mood– I am also going to share a bit of a ‘mood board’ and the design ideas behind the changes in the little cottage.

Hi COURTNEY,
i ORDERED TWO OF THE WILLOW CLOCHES FROM HOME DEPOT AND ONE OF THEM ARRIVED WITH A BROKEN WILLOW WHERE IT BENDS. iT IS NOT BROKEN ALL THE WAY THROUGH. HOME DEPOT IS ONCE AGAIN OUT OF STOCK AND i AM DEBATING WHETHER TO KEEP OR RETURN THE BROKEN ONE. dID ANY OF YOURS ARRIVE LIKE THIS? I’M THINKING IT MIGHT BE OKAY TO KEEP SINCE IT IS A NATURAL PRODUCT, BUT HOPING IT WON’T COME APART. ANY THOUGHTS? tHANK YOU.
Courtney says
Hi Barbara!
Oh no!! I actually had ordered 6 of them originally and only 1 showed up before they were sold out- it arrived in okay shape- but without seeing yours- I do believe there are some little ‘splits/breaks’ where the willow bends. I think that is somewhat how they are maybe? I would probably keep it and consider it character. 🙂 Maybe you could wrap a tiny bit of thin craft wire around it if you are concerned it will break all the way? And yes- I cannot believe they are out of stock again already- they have been out since February when I ordered.

Hi Courtney,
There are so many awful things going on in our world. Seeing your posts of such lovely things does indeed put a smile on my face and helps me to focus for a bit on all things beautiful. We cannot stop living and I think a very good time to appreciate the beauty not only in the pictures you post, but also in the special person and blogger you are. You certainly brighten my day! Those little chicks will be soooooo cool!! thank you always for your kindness.

I am so glad to hear that it helps Ashley. Hoping that the second half of 2020 is much much better than the first.

The garden looks amazing. And those babies! Be still my heart! (I’m not trying to type in all caps, not sure why, my caps lock is off.)
i’ve been dreaming of garden boxes and it just dawned on me my best gardening plot is hillside! I’ll have to get creative.
Thanks for the beauty dose and true words.
