Welcome to the weekend view.
This weekend view looks a bit HOT. And full of Christmas trees & fresh wreaths & a few pretty roses.
Since it is a hot one- I will keep it short and sweet.
HOT
Hot. Hot. That is all I can say about it. It is hot out there folks. And I have mentioned before that we don’t have air conditioning in our little old cottage. Honestly, we don’t usually need it. Our house stays pretty cold (year round) thanks to the basement that is always freezing.
There are usually a couple of days of the year that make us question putting in air conditioning- but honestly, it is only after several days of heat or when the nighttime temperatures don’t drop and cool the house down.
Side note: We are actually working on something in the basement right now- so perhaps this 100+ heat for several days will get a bit of progress done.
Oh Christmas Tree
My daughter is coming later this week to film a few holiday videos with me- and they might involve a twinkling tree. I am used to working ahead on holiday stylings – and I love it.
Oh Christmas Wreath
Yes, that too. A box of special order holiday wreaths and flowers arrived a few days ago- and the house instantly smelled like Christmas. And that made me a bit giddy. I actually got so excited about the greens that I put Christmas on the stereo system and maybe played it just a tad too loud.
And to be honest, it was one of the most fun days of work I have done in awhile. Just thinking about the holidays is making me beyond happy right now.
Email Changes
In other news- those of you who are subscribed to get updates via email will be noticing some changes coming up. I have had a bit of trouble with the email service I have been using and am switching to a totally different system that should be much more efficient and actually work. Don’t worry – if you have already signed up- you don’t have to do anything. But if for some reason you stop receiving emails from me- please let me know.
Browsing
Did you all love my Browsing share Paula from Hill House Vintage as much as I do? She is so much fun to follow along. And this week I am sharing a sweet friend who you probably already know- but if you don’t- you will love her too.
My friend Leslie from My 100 Year Old Home is always inspiring me. She lives in a historic house- literally her 100 year old home- that you might recognize as it has been in several movies.
She also has a beach house and newly renovated VRBO in Waco Texas.
She shares lots of beautiful farmhouse style projects, designs and decor and is another one of my favorites to follow along.
Coming up
A veggie garden update is coming your way in a couple of weeks- and I will be sharing a few tidbits about what we are doing to get the garden ready for next year.
I am working on several fun holiday stylings- we will be kicking off some autumn recipes and fun in September.
A fun cake how to- that delicious lemon cake I created for my new book, a video about creating a Gatherings bouquet – and fun tour and giveaway you won’t want to miss.
Happy Sunday all.

We just moved to a small horse farm and my husband is composting with the manure. We are laying out the plans for our small hillside garden. I can’t wait to see what you are doing for your veggie garden.
