Welcome to the weekend view.
Sleep Shenanigans
This morning, I woke up, looked at the clock and then jumped out of bed. I could not believe that I had slept in so late and hurried and put my contacts in, my mouth guard away and then rushed out to the living room and stared at my husband with my hands in the air and said ‘WHY did you let me sleep in so long?!” He laughed and said ‘I figured you must have been tired and needed it.’
I just shook my head and thought he must be right. I must have been overly tired from the bathroom project and other renovation work I was doing this week and guess I needed the sleep. But I don’t usually sleep in so it bugged me a bit. Then when I was chatting with my mom on the phone- she asked if I remembered to change my clocks and I just started laughing. I told her about how I slept in so long this morning and felt like such a bum- but now it made sense. So, I was up on time- and my husband and I both didn’t realize it was time change day and have been laughing about it since.
Cottage Bathroom
This bathroom project has been a bit of a doozy to be honest. Between the 8″ thick concrete wall and floor and the plumbing issues- it has been dragging on and on.
Brick on Repeat
We have been installing brick this week- and yesterday was grouting day. This is the first time I have installed brick- and let me tell you- it is a bit of a job. Those bricks start to get heavy after a bit- and the grouting is kind of detailed unless you want to grout the bricks like you do tile. Usually you would wipe the grout over the whole tile surface so it fills the grout line areas and then wipe it off- but with brick- we didn’t want that haze on them and it is harder to wipe off. Even though we tried to do the best we could- we ended up with a lot of haze- which we will be trying to get cleaned off today.
Random Tidbits:
Comedy night: Last week we watched a couple hours of comedy that my oldest has recommended and have been laughing about it since. If you like comedy- you might enjoy Sebastian Maniscalco- he is SO funny.
Alaska: My daughter and her fiancé are in Alaska this week. They have been FaceTiming the scenery and northern lights and are enjoying a ( very cold) vacation. And we are enjoying watching one of our grand dogs- Cleo.
Coming your way
Before & After: I am SO excited to share the vintage treasure that inspired a big change out in the cottage. And we are working on wrapping up the cottage kitchen today and tomorrow as well. Lots of Before & Afters coming your way.
Florals and more- I have several floral projects this week and next and some fun new things to show you.
Get the Look: I am going to work on another Get the Look for Less post this week- not sure just what I will be shopping for but stay tuned for that.
Happy Weekend All.

Hi Courtney! All your posts coming up are my personal favorites and can’t wait! My husband and I (happil married yrs) have also been under more renovations than I like to mention. Just remember, as you know, the prize is always in the end and your hard work and determination pays OFF! I. Not a personal favorites of chip and Joanna Gaines like I am a fan of your style, BUT, I did see an episode where they did a technique called “German Schmere”. Basically, it is grout purpously smeared onto brick. Not sure if this helps you to embrave the grout issue you are running into. Just a thought. 😉

Hi Michelle!
Thanks for the suggestion and I appreciate the thought!! 🙂 I did read about that method- I don’t mind it but I did want to see more of the color of the brick. They are recycled so they do have some different colors, paint splotches, stains etc. – but I love the patina of them.

I tried that application On my kitchen Walls. Previously My kitchen looked like Provence with random bricks on the walls (kInd of like it used to be a brick wall and now THEY’VE fallen Off). I COULDN’T imagine taking off all those bricks then repairing the walls, etc. so i just German Schmered the bricks, painted the walls light grey (SW Big Chill – whats in a name) and it turned out beautifully. Wish i knew how to attach a picture of it. COURTNEY, you were My inspiration for my kitchen re-do, right down to the crystal Chandelier.
