It is March… and even though we have lots of rain and there is winter weather in a lot of places- March is pretty much the start of spring posts and inspiration over here.
And today, it is all about an inspired table tucked into a little bit of countryside.
This little spot on our property is one of my favorites.
It is just beyond the line of trees and past the clearing before the forest takes over. There are wild flowers and ferns underfoot and the most lovely backdrop of trees surrounding a little grassy area. It is tucked near the remnants of the old apple orchard and is a post where the sunlight absolutely loves to dance as it sets.
If you are coming over from the gorgeous post at Craftberry Bush– welcome! And thank you to Lory of Designthusiasm for hosting this fun blog tour this week.
I love little clearings in the middle of the forest- they seem to be enchanted and like a little storybook setting where many little inspired moments happen.
I placed a vintage inspired table and chairs set up here and it is a place where you can find me retreating to when I am looking for just a bit of quiet time.
And it is a spot where I shot a few photos for my book.
This table setting is one that inspired much more than just a pretty bouquet,
garland with flowers marching down the table
or even one of those favorite flower and fruit topped cakes.
Though you can find all of these in the Celebrations chapter.
This table styling was about simplicity and a fairytale feeling plopped into a little clearing.
Today I am sharing a few tips on how to set a table that is simple- and simply beautiful for inspiring and indulging your guests.
#1. Adding Ambiance
Isn’t it always my number one?
🙂
🙂
Think about the surroundings around your table- and how and where you can add those twinkle lights for a fairytale touch. Even just suspending them overhead or scattering on the table- twinkle light ambiance is always incredible.
#2. Candles
You can also use candles (or led candles for extra safety.)
Think candles on the table or tucked into lanterns and placed around your table (again- LED for safety) I love to group several if not using any twinkle lights – that flicker is lovely- and they will bring a feeling of romance and nostalgia.

#3. Fresh Flowers
It goes without saying- but fresh flowers always add a perfect touch of elegance to a table. Whether you use a garland dotted with fresh flowers, a garland of nothing but fresh flowers or a bouquet – you can add as much or as little as you want to.
And don’t underestimate the power of the natural flowers growing in the area- gather up wildflowers, grasses and branches to create an impromptu and unique arrangement.
#4. Gold place settings
Place settings with the Midas touch always bring elegance.
That shimmer and shine of metallics adds a decadent but subtle touch to the table.
I love to layer a charger, plate and wine stems with a bit of gilding
on the table to repeat the gold touches.
These are by Arte Italica– shop the look for less and these on a dime Here

#5. Nibbles
Of course, after your table is set- it’s time for nibbles on repeat.
Think bread and cheese boards, fig jam and pink lemonade or rose wine for a rosy look in your wine stems.

Courtney,
You have captured the magic of a woodland fairytale table. Beautifully styled and photographed to highlight how to recreate some of the magic in our own homes.
