Flower arranging class, artwork and garden snaps showing something surprising that I am excited about… and nope- it isn’t those Christmas lights that are still up. All in todays edition of the Weekend View.
Flower Arranging Class
My sister in law text me on Thursday night and asked if I could do a flower arranging lesson for Zoom school with my nieces the next day.
I had to think about it- I mean, I am not into flowers or flower arranging at all…. haha. I was super excited thinking about the lesson and how we could do it of course. And the next day, with a few clipped flowers on hand- my twin nieces and I zoom walked through the garden and I cut the flowers that inspired them.
Then we went inside and created a beautiful bouquet- with them telling me where each flower should go. It was such a fun class- I shared the secrets and method to my flower arranging madness- and we all agreed that more flowers is a good thing.
I snapped a quick iPhone photo of the arrangement to send to them and they each sketched it and then sent me a photo back. They did such an amazing job on the flowers And on the artwork. They are 7 years old but I am pretty convinced they are mini-Picasso’s.
The greenhouse garden is starting to fill in nicely. I was wandering out there last night and decided to grab a quick snap of the beautiful blooms and lush greens that are starting to appear. And I wanted to capture that something surprising on the front of the greenhouse.
I know you might be thinking ‘Why are the Christmas lights still up?’ To be honest, I just. haven’t. taken. them. down. yet. And at the same time- they were literally glowing away a couple weeks ago for that baby shower- so festive any time of year I suppose. 🙂
But the surprise is actually the wisteria. We have been waiting for this wisteria to bloom out for several years. Most of the time- we get the leaves and maybe a couple blooms. This year- there are blooms coming on top to bottom and I am pretty darn excited about it. There are 2 more on the greenhouse that are not doing much but leaves again this year- if anyone has wisteria advice, I would love to know what it is. I would love for the whole front to be covered in those beautiful purple blooms each year.
And here is my first peony bloom of the year. 🙂
I wandered into the Re-Store the other day- and came out with 4 vintage windows for a garden project we are working on. I probably would have brought more treasures home- I just didn’t find anything that was talking loudly to me. But on that same note- I have been perusing craigslist everyday in search of some pretty pieces for a decorating project. I am thinking I might start sharing more about shopping projects- whether it is thrift stores or HomeGoods or shopping the house etc. And I cannot wait for flea market season- I am ready.
Here is what inspired me in one way or another this week:
We have been watching comedy with my oldest son and his fiancé every week when they come for dinner- and my cheeks are definitely sore the next day. I highly recommend finding something funny to watch and relax for a bit.
We are also binge watching Animal Kingdom during the week. When people started recommending it to me- I thought it was literally like an educational type show about animals and I was so impressed that so many people were watching BBC or PBS channels and learning about them. Spoiler alert: It is not about animals of that kind. lol. The first couple of episodes- I wasn’t sure- but now we are into season 3 and into the story.
For Laughs: This video involving lipstick and Home Depot is so adorable.
Inspire: I have been doing a lot of armchair traveling and dreaming – and this always inspires.
Create: This DIY herb garden is so cute.
Make: We made this cucumber chickpea salad last week and absolutely loved it. It will be on repeat all summer long.
Shop: I am ordering 5 spring flower covered dresses today. I have decided that my well worn and loved jeans need a break for the summer. The biggest problem I have with finding dresses I love to wear are finding ones that are not sacks and are also not body con style. I just want something flattering, long lines and no smocking or poofing. I will share how this round of them work out in case you are looking for something pretty too.

Have a great weekend everyone.
