A basket full of beautiful blooms is always a good idea. One of the things I keep in mind when planting the garden and adding new flowers each year is to include the flowers that I love to bring inside on repeat. You can probably guess what some of those are. Those big and beautiful ruffle filled peonies and garden roses of course.

Basket of Blooms
This flower filled basket of blooms was such a treat. Full of those delicious peonies and garden roses – it made such a lovely moment on the table in the garden. You can find this setting in my book IN BLOOM

And since it is spring and I am often asked what some of my favorite varieties of flowers are- I thought I would share a few that you can look for & add to your garden.
Peonies
As you can see, those big pink ruffle filled peonies are always on repeat. There are so many beautiful varieties out there- but not all are easily found. A few of the ones that I have most often been able to find local at the nursery in the pink family include:
Sarah Bernhardt– ruffle filled pink beauties
Monsieur Jules Elie– Deeper pink and oh so pretty
Soft Salmon Saucer– not a ruffle filled peony but a beauty even so- I am partial to the ones that have the lovely yellow stamens as well as those ruffly varieties.
Garden Roses
I am obsessed with all the garden roses and I have quite a few in my garden. Most all of them have come from our local nursery but you can also source some at specialty rose shops online like Grace Rose Farm & Heirloom Roses. Sharing mostly the pinks and whites we have in this post- I will cover the purples and lavenders in another.
Eden– of course, always a favorite in cottage gardens- Eden Climber is a stunning beautiful rose that rambles and vines. We have it in pink and white.
Earth Angel – Beautiful cup shaped blooms in the softest shade of blush.

New Dawn– these smell so lovely and vine all over the place
Princess Charlene de Monaco- I added a few of these to the garden a couple years ago and just picked up a couple more plants- obsessed with them.

All Dressed Up – These are the pink roses in the cherub fountain garden-they start out bold and fade to blush- found at Home Depot several years ago.

Cecile Brunner – we have several of these and they are such a treat. They ramble and vine and grow over all the things and create the most beautiful barely blush roses that fade to white.

Bolero– creamy white and absolutely delightful in small rose bush size.
Ingenious Mr. Fairchild– this one is a garden rose that looks like a peony- you can read more about it and see the comparison in this post HERE

Stay tuned for more posts about favorite varieties. Do you have any favorites to add to the list?
Does the Cecile Brunner bloom all Summer?
