A cozy little fireplace moment in the bedroom that involves a few things from the holidays and a couple new to me vintage French floral ticking chairs.

You probably have heard me say that winter is not my favorite but I do love to cozy things up. Especially this week with the crazy weather we have been having- our power has been out for several days already and is not expected to be back up and running until Thursday sometime pretty much everywhere in the state of California right now. So I grabbed a few iPhone snaps during for this post -but stay tuned for a proper set of photos of the chairs once everything is up and running again.
Winter Fireplace Style

Here was the mantel during the holidays before the garland dried. Even though I took all the merry & bright baubles and bits off- I left the fresh eucalyptus garland from Christmas up on the fireplace. Eucalyptus dries beautifully and I have left the garlands to dry here the past couple of years. Since the mantel is decorative- there is no worry about the dried foliage catching fire. You might remember that I customized a faux garland with mixed eucalyptus garland and then added roses and other flowers to it. This was something I created for my brothers wedding- and repurposed it as a holiday garland in the bedroom.
Dried Garland

There are a few dried roses tucked in and I also left one of the ribbons up on the end as well.
Tip: Don’t be afraid to enjoy a holiday garland on your mantel year round- just be safe around working fireplaces and don’t use dried foliage.

Fireplace Village
You can see that I also left the lit fireplace here as well. I absolutely love the cozy glow it brings to our bedroom. Since it is on a timer- it automatically lights up every evening after 5pm and goes off by bedtime.
Tip: Add some cozy with lit displays or string lights for a bit of ambiance and charm.

Vintage winter scene artwork
I found this while thrifting last year- and while I am not a fan of snow- this cozy cabin in the artwork charmed me. I love the vintage colors and the little cottage in the wilderness scene. I set it down in front of the mirror while tinkering with the look and though I plan to move it, it has stayed for now.

Tip: Incorporate seasonal art for a seasonal touch without big seasonal design commitments.
Vintage French Floral Ticking Chairs
A craigslist score from a few months ago-a pair of vintage chairs dressed in a lovely light gold French floral ticking fabric. They are what we call ‘comfy’ vintage chairs because you literally sink into them and feel wrapped up in comfy cozy. They are not super old- just from around 2000 based on the tag attached but are in barely used condition. I will share a closer look at both of them in another post along with some tips for scoring treasures on marketplace soon.

Hello, I have enjoyed your blog so much; I really appreciate all the work you put into sharing your homes and lovely ideas.
I just thought you should know…the first time I tuned into your blog you were the author of the book I just bought!!😁 I wasn’t surprised! Loved your book!!
Warm Regards
The National News covering the CA devastation…is…mind boggling! Oh, your beautiful home HAS TO BE such comfort… It will improve… Oh, my, “those chairs!!” Swoon…franki
courtney, I want to share something special with you. I don’t know if the seller truly knows the history behind these chairs, so I could be wrong. about 30 years ago I purchased a gorgeous bench with wood scrolled arms just like your chairs and plush cushioned comfort you could melt in to and with this exact same fabric. I have never seen it again. I have alwayd regretted letting it go with selling our home years ago. what i want you to know is that I purchased it AT Ethen Allen store in Florida in their clearance section. Back then, even half priced they were a $500 splurge. very nice find!!!😍
I have the same cottage picture!!! Inherited from a relative. Surprised me to see it here. Enjoy!
Such lovely lpghotos fireplaces are not somehting we have in our home, they are not unheard of or uncommon in some parts of Australia just not so much n the part I live in
You know I love everything you do, but the chairs are beautiful and look super comfy. I also went over to look at the framed winter print and scrolled down a bit and ran into a beautiful cabbage pose print. This is a good day.
Love the fireplace, where can I find the dried garlarnd? love the fullness of the garland.
