A peek at a little sprinkle of autumn in the dining room.

Autumn Dining Room
Did I mention that I am behind on autumn decor in the house this year? Definitely a bit behind, even though there are a few little heirloom pumpkins and autumn toned florals that have started to appear. The funny thing is- I am ahead on Christmas. I have already set up and photographed several trees for the 12 Trees of Christmas series this year. It is a wonky seasonally confused schedule over here- though as a photographer, I work ahead most of the year. So it isn’t unusual and I do enjoy it.
But when my friends mentioned it was an autumn tour post coming up- and I looked around the house and saw twinkling trees and not lots of pumpkins- I knew I needed to get back in the autumn game. And I decided to add just a bit of autumn style to the dining room – and dress up that vintage swan planter for the season.

Vintage Swan Planter
I shared this chunky vintage swan planter last week Here and mentioned I would show what I did for this autumn look. I filled the swan with dried hydrangeas- honestly, they could be an all year long look if you wanted. Simply change the vintage green to blues or purples, etc. for more seasonal color.

Heirloom Pumpkins

I also added a few chunky mini heirloom pumpkins and candles to warm up the look. Simple and sweet is my motto for table centerpieces that don’t overwhelm the table.
Place Setting Details

Though I didn’t set the table for this post- I did pull out some of my go to favorites for creating place settings that have an abundance of charm. The pewter flatware is so pretty- and they have such character in their patina & details. The plates are also always on repeat favorites and the checked napkins a beautiful warm touch.
Vintage Glasses
Another vintage find is this olive green vintage glassware you can see kind of peeking out of the corner. I bumped into two sizes of these on the shelf at the Re-Store and instantly imagined them on the table for autumn and holiday stylings. I actually found several different vintage table setting elements that thrifting day- will share a closer look at them next week.

The cupboard is not fully styled as it should be – I know. I know. I actually had it all set up and ready for the holiday season (as I mentioned – in Christmas mode over here) so, I have been changing and moving pieces for this quick post and simply I loaded some elements back inside and called it good.

Hi, even though I can’T see your glasses well, I believe they are Tiffin FRANCISCAN and the pattern is Madeira in olive green, FYI
LENORE
Hi Lenore! You have an eagle eye! Yes, you are correct- that is what they are. I didn’t know at the time- but found them when researching. 🙂
Oh my, so elegant and very beautiful! Such a lovely find:) my dear brother, who has been gone five years now, used to tease mE, that i was the ugly duckling of the familY, indeed i had to agree with him:) I was full of freckles, frizzy red hair, and just plain awkward looking. Even i can laugh about it! But when we got older, he told me one day, that i grew into a beautiful swan. He said it was such Sincerity and kindness, then he was gone a little later on. Swans always reminD me of him now💕
I’ve been looking FOR a large vintage or antique buffet / serving & storage piece for my dining room – like a 14-footer! Can you give me some hints on how to find one that large? I’m having a lot of trouble searching, so maybe i’m using the wrong search terms. thanks in advance!!
Hi Joyce!
Such a fun treasure hunt! This one is over 14′ long and to be honest, it was luck bumping into on marketplace. I wasn’t searching any specific words -and it wasn’t listed as an antique hutch. I would try to search vintage and antique hutch, cabinet, etc. on marketplace, eBay, craigslist, etc.
