All the magic of the mingle of the seasons – creating an autumn Christmas tree for late summer/early autumn is such a beautiful statement and brings all the magic of 3 seasons together in one. Today I am breaking down the method to my madness for the tree in the seasonal styling I shared last week.
Autumn Christmas Tree
Autumn and a Christmas tree all together in one? Why not? I love enjoying the magic of Christmas all year long and as a photographer, I am always styling the holidays during other seasons. And even though it might be near 100 in summer- the twinkling tree brings the magic even so.
Step by Step- Autumn Christmas Tree
After setting up the tree- I started with tucking an autumn garland into the branches.
TIP: Tuck the garland deeper into the branches so the foliage fills in some of the gaps and then pull some of the pumpkins and larger garland elements out just a bit to show them.
After the garland is fluffed and situated, start tucking in the dried bits. I used various dried bunches of flowers and foliage to fill the branches in a bit and create a layered effect.
TIP: Dried grasses, flowers, pods, leaves or whatever type of dried bunches you have will work. Vary the textures for a unique look or use all the same dried foliage for a more cohesive look.
Create a ‘floral Crown’ for the top
You can keep the same look by tucking in the dried pieces all the way from the top to bottom of the tree or create a bit more of a statement look by varying the placement at the top. I used some of the dried pods I had and added them to the top facing up rather than laying down for a bit of a pop of pretty for a tree crown.
TIP: Use flowers, grasses or whatever look you like for a topper- simply tuck the pieces into the branches at the top and arrange them so they create a little bit of a fluffy look
Under the Branches Magic
If you would like to create a little bit of fun under the branches as well, tuck some grapevine pumpkins, faux pumpkins or real pumpkins under the tree for some more ambiance.
When you get all the elements together for the tree- stand back and see if there are any bare spots you would like to add more foliage to and adjust. I like to see the tree branches as well as the dried foliage but you can absolutely cover all the branches with dried foliage if preferred.
Layer of Cafe Lights
I also added one more layer of magic with a string of cafe lights but you can leave the tree decorated as is without them as well.
What do you think of how this fun seasonal mingle came together? Would you decorate a Christmas tree in a different season than Christmas?
