Because, cozy is key for winter and spring style
Oh how I love a cozy little corner in the house. Just like the bedroom corner we just talked about on Monday- a sweet little spot for sipping morning coffee and enjoying the sunshine- even if it is chilly outside. And that cozy corner feeling doesn’t stop in the bedroom- anywhere in the house is perfect for adding a bit of cozy in winter. I spent some time rearranging the living room yesterday and it got me thinking about how sometimes- creating a cozy area in a large room isn’t the easiest. Let’s jump in and discuss.
Create a cozy seating area
How do you create a cozy sitting area? Is there a right or wrong way to do that? You know me… so you know, I don’t think so. I say go with what you love and what works for you. But if you need some arrangement ideas- this post might help.

Chairs and Sofa
I love the way that two sofas look when directly across from each other- but that isn’t always ideal depending on your layout. Our usual look is 2 sofas though- and I do love that symmetry. But what about one sofa with one or two chairs? Perfect for a cozy little window spot.
So step number 1 when planning your layout is to start with your sofa. Where do you want place your seating area? Since your sofa is the largest seating piece usually- once you find where you want to place your sofa -you can build your sitting area from there.

Step number 2– Bring in another sofa or one or 2 side chairs- whichever you prefer and works best for you and your room. I love both- I don’t think you can go wrong. See more of this vintage ticking sofa style HERE

Accents and Comfort Pieces
Step number 3-Bring in the cozy comfort type pieces like a coffee table, side table, rug, etc. There are other things to consider such as a sofa table, bench, etc. also but those 3 are the ones we are talking about in this post.
RUG: For me- I don’t always use a rug. I know, I know. It isn’t as warm or cozy in look or underfoot but I like a clean slate and I enjoy seeing the patina of the wood. So in winter, I will bring a rug in sometimes- or not.

COFFEE TABLE: I usually have a large coffee table in our living room- but recently, I took it out when reconfiguring the space and love the less busy look so much. If bringing a coffee table back in- thinking it might be smaller like a trunk or something like that.

SIDE TABLES: Okay- another thing I don’t usually have everywhere but I DO have small stools as tables or dainty drink tables by the sofa that I like to use. For this configuration that I created several years ago for a design challenge with a brand- I tucked one small table on the end of the sofa and this works perfectly for an arrangement and coffee. So which style of seating area do you like the most and works best for you and your room? The number one thing to remember is that however you decide to arrange your furniture and change your look- as long as it makes you happy- it is perfect.
