It’s the most wonderful time of July… Christmas in July is here!! Twinkling trees, fairy lights and ambiance all out under the stars during summer.
Christmas in July
Christmas in July is always a fun thing to do. There is something about setting up a tree and fa-la-la-la-la-ing during summer when the evenings are warm and that magic takes on a whole new feeling. This year, I will be sharing a few weeks of different Christmas in July ideas- because this year- it is Christmas All July with Balsam Hill. And scroll on down to the end of the post for something I think you will love!
Twinkle Twinkle
This years theme? All things Twinkle light fabulous. Because twinkle lights always bring a whole lot of magic to any setting and when you are talking about Christmas out under the stars- those lights are even more magical.
Style Tip: It is all about that twinkle light magic for this look. Think of layers of twinkles for a lovely effect. From the lanterns on the ground to the candles on the table to the tree and backdrop of curtain lights.
For this setting, I started with those beautiful cascading fairy lights. We hung them from the pergola and also draped them in the apple tree to create a ‘magic filled’ backdrop for our dining table.
Twinkling Tree
Of course Christmas in July wouldn’t be complete without a twinkling tree tucked in as well.
Style Tip: You don’t have to feel like you have to go all out when decking the halls for a holiday celebration in July. Even a twinkling tree that is unadorned looks festive and beautiful glowing on the patio- so go with whatever works for you and enjoy!
I decided to keep this tree simple and sweet. Since it was all about the ambiance of twinkle lights- I ran with that and added flickering candles to the tree as well as some flickering lanterns. I tucked a few white ornaments into the branches and added soft green velvet ribbons to tie in the table.
Fairly light Lanterns
I scattered a couple of fairy light lanterns on the patio as well to bring in a bit of light on the path and also create some warmth in a layer underneath the tree.
On the Table
Since we are mingling Christmas with July- I decided to bring out that favorite green check summer tablecloth and see how that would work with a twinkling tree & am in love with how the green played with the twinkle lights.
Style Tip: Think French Country picnic meets holiday for your table. Use a summery tablecloth and fruit to bring in the warmth of the summer season- and clippings of fresh greens and candles for the holiday ambiance.
I used faux candles marching down the center for tabletop ambiance as well. Stay tuned for a closer look at this table and a few summer Christmas style ideas in the next Christmas in July post.

I adore that color of green in a tablecloth! I checked amazon but it is sold out and no idea when or if it will return. You wouldn’t happen to have any other ideas where I might find that color do you? I love everything about this setup from the colors to the lights.
