Pretty paper, pretty ribbons… and a pretty paper snowflake Christmas tree.
Today is all about wintery magic with snow and a couple of simple tips for decorating your tree with a wintery theme.
Paper Snowflake Christmas Tree
This idea started out with a snowy frosted tree and a snowflake garland. I wanted to create a winter wonderland tree with glimmering frosty touches, winter berries and wee bird friends.
Layers of Shimmer
Tip: Use layers of ‘frost’ to create a wintery look on the tree. A frosted tree, frosted white berries and a glistening effect with glittered picks.
Shades of White and Frosty Blues
I used shades of white, mercury glass and a handful of frosty blues for the ornaments.
I also tucked the sweetest little glass bird ornaments in for a winter woodland look.
Tip: Keep your look mostly cohesive with shades and colors that layer for a quiet look on the tree. And bring in the glimmer and glam with picks, berries and ornaments that glisten.
Snowflake Garland
Yes, it started out as a garland. And then it became snowflake ornaments.
I do realize I could have just ordered paper snowflake ornaments- but I had this on hand already and it worked beautifully to simply clip them and create loops to hang each one.
Tip: Tuck large ornaments -like snowflakes- in between branches where there are gaps and also along the outer branches of the tree for a ‘floating’ effect.
Tinsel Magic
Of course, the finishing touch is that beautiful tinsel magic. I draped tinsel over the branches of the tree for a little more shimmer shine and added a beaded star topper and chunky knit blanket for a tree skirt.
All in all a simple, sweet winter snowflake tree. A fun fact? My husband got back from the store and walked into the living room and put his wallet and keys on the table by the cupboard in the background. I was working away and didn’t notice they were there until AFTER shooting all the photos and redoing the tree for another look. His dark leather wallet and keys stood out like a big sore thumb against the white cupboard. Editing tools that can remove those bits later are a good thing. haha.
What do you think of how this tree turned out?

This is so pretty. I love paper on a tree. I think it adds such a great quality to the tree and is a little unexpected. I’ll be posting my tree next week and I used paper on it too. I love that look.
