Simple and natural Christmas magic. That is my motto this year for Christmas decorating. And candlelight Christmas is just that.
It is a dreamy, quiet, magical kind of Christmas feeling prioritizing ambiance and simplicity of the season over the usual busyness. I have been craving the quieter softer feeling in the house. Rather than more is more- less is more is talking to me. Fewer trees have popped up this year and the ones that have are dotted with ornaments rather than covered. That whole slow living & intentional decorating feeling has been resonating with me all year long and so, I am embracing that quieter look for Christmas this year. A look that is full of magic & twinkling trees- and cozy warm you up simple ambiance like candlelight.
Candlelight Christmas
Candles on repeat all season long and I love it. That flickering glow ambiance casts such a beautiful light wherever those candles are.
Style Idea: Add faux flickering candles along the hearth for a warm glow that fills the whole room.
Style Idea: Candles on the mantel in glimmering mercury glass is a lovely way to bring Christmas magic- and also winter magic that will last all season long.
On the Table
Style Idea: Taper candles on the table with a glimmering champagne garland dotted with ornaments brings a warm ambiance to gatherings and everyday decor.
Style Idea: Layer candles in different areas for layered ambiance. On the table, on the mantel and on the coffee table for example. This helps create a magical warmth throughout the room.
Style Idea: Think outside traditional candle boxes. Try a lighted village tucked along with a couple taper candles on the mantel for a twist on traditional glowy decor.
Style Idea: Favorite scented candles placed on a nightstand with glass garland, pretty packages and orange slices create a simple vignette that adds a charming touch for the season.
A few tips for the road
Use faux candles that flicker for safe candle displays through the house. Another bonus with faux candles is you can set them on a timer or use a remote which saves time in lighting each one.
Use different sizes of candles in groupings. Tapers, tall glass candles, votives, chunky candles, etc. all can be grouped together for an interesting look in decor.
Place candles in lanterns. Hurricanes and vintage jars for a charming look.
Don’t be afraid to use colorful candles as well. On the table especially- a rich burgundy, dusty pine green and even black tapers are beautiful for holiday tables.
