It happened again. Another vintage settee came home with me. I didn’t intend for it to happen- I just walked into the thrift store and it was staring at me. Some of you guessed that it came home with me last week- I guess you know me all too well!

Vintage Settee
When you find something that is vintage and has dainty details and carvings – what is a girl to do? You bring it home, right? Well would it surprise you to know that I didn’t bring it home right away? I spotted it. I loved it. I took a photo of it even. But I was trying to be good. Trying is apparently the keyword there because obviously, it came home with me haha. But I walked away at first and thought about it. I actually was thinking about 2 different dainty settees at 2 different thrift stores. I am always finding pieces that will be superstars in photos – so yes, 2 antique beauties caught my eye.

The next day, I was thinking about it again and possibly going to get it but a storm was moving in and with rain and all that – putting it in the back of the truck was not going to work well. So I waited. The power went out a very low snow event came through California and it was a bit of chaos in our area so the thrifts waited. And the next week, I was thinking about it yet but we hadn’t been back to the thrifts since the storm but then, we decided to stop in a few of them. The first one was already sold. The day we had stopped and looked at it. No big deal, I tend to find pieces with great potential all the time and that one actually had a broken seat that I would have had to figure out how to repair and it was not my favorite. But the little frenchie cream one? Well, I was anticipating it was long gone after a week and a half so was not getting excited.
I wandered into the thrift store, rounded the corner and the spot where it was? Empty. I just shook my head and then almost at the same time spotted an amazing chair (of course haha) so I walked over to take a closer look at the chair and behind it- there was the settee. Oh my.

Vintage French Settee
Okay- obviously it came home with me. It was a discounted price and though I was trying to be good, I also knew that I wasn’t leaving it behind again. Side note- that amazing chair ALSO came home with me. So that whole thing about being good? Well…. that day, I was a little bad I suppose. But since I have already photographed the chair and am head over heels with it, it is all good and I have justified it. haha.

The settee is such a lovely little thing. It is dainty in size, which I love. I have a thing about oversized or too deep furniture which is one of the reasons I prefer vintage.
The Details

It has delicate carvings and a cream color upholstery and though not perfect – it has perfect patina for me. I am not as much a fan of the fabric pattern so that may change if I can get to it soon but it is a lovely warm cream color and though it looks dingy- it is just the pattern and light – it is actually in great condition. Someone working at the thrift store knew a bit about the history of it- said it was reupholstered many many years ago and was originally from some kind of an estate home full of antiques. Always nice to know a bit about where something came from when buying antiques.

Where to put it?
The dilemma of where it will go… I have a few ideas. I do like to change up the settee in the bedroom from time to time- so it may be perfect there. Or in the attic by the window seating area. Or the guest bedroom or entry sunroom. I am not sure just yet but it is such a sweet little piece – I think it will look great anywhere.

I love it! Perfect sizebut, not a fan of the pattern- I would reupholster or, maybe just pillows would do.
Settee is cute. Fabric don’t look bad except maybe cleaning. You are blessed to find these treasures because you know the cost from antique stores. very expensive no matter condition!
Stunning setee – it was meant to be yours
The setee is beautiful but where is the chair?
