I love a good vintage floral and I am always scouring the framed art at the thrifts for the next piece to bring home. Recently I created a cozy vintage floral art wall using a mingle of vintage and new artwork. I absolutely love how it turned out and today I am sharing how you can get the look if you have a lonely wall that needs a little vintage floral love.

Vintage Floral Art Wall
This hallway wall was feeling a little lackluster and one day, I just started pulling out my collection of vintage florals to see if I had enough to create something pretty. I started with some of my older collected paintings, prints and the like and they quickly became a whole wall when I found some reproduction art that I loved. The method to my madness when creating a vintage floral accent wall is that anything goes. There are large pieces, small pieces, in between pieces- a couple mirror accents and even a delicious antique still life oil painting- also a thrift find.

The main thing I try to do is stay within a certain color guideline. Pinks and golden yellows or gilded frames for example. I like those to repeat to keep some continuity and less visual clutter. Because we can be honest, sometimes those artwork feature walls can be a bit visually busy. But again- if you love that look- anything goes. Go with what speaks to you!
Reproduction Floral Art
While I love the thrill of the hunt at the thrifts and tag sales- there is something to be said for instant gratification when you are trying to achieve a look. And that is where those reproduction artwork pieces come in. I bought a couple different pieces that had the look I was after and then thrifted the frames. Those old frames are a dime a dozen at the thrift store and some of them can be really cool. I went with a variety of styles but you can absolutely go with all wood or all metal and create something delightful.

Mix and Mingle
They say it is all in the mix… I say it is all in the mix and mingle. Old with new. Chunky frames with dainty ones. Large prints with tiny little prints. Gilded mirrors and sconces with candles. Vintage straw hats.

One tip is to vary the sizes and orientation of the pieces to create some interest. Add some pieces with height. Some pieces with width and some with an odd shape or two. Everything goes when you are doing an accent wall- just go with what speaks to you.

While some of the artwork here is collected vintage- some are brand new. Linking some lovely vintage inspired options below.

hi Courtney
thank you for the inspiration. how do you recommend putting vintage looking prints into very old found ( along side of road actually), frames?

💞💞
beautiful ! Great Ideas!
I love that you added the hats it compliments the artwork perfectly. I’m going to check out the prints you provided.
Hi Courtney! I absolutely love Love Love your vintage floral wall art! it’s right up my alley of things that make feel warm inside and me smile. The straw hats make it complete. You did an amazing job! Some of the Amazon prints you suggested are fabulous. I just wish they came in larger sizes. Antique Farm House has the first print in larger sizes but is so much more expensive than amazon. If you find others please keep us posted. I’ll keep searching. Thank you for your beautiful posts.
I would love if you could do a post on traditional and beautiful french toie fabrics in hues of reds/Golds, greens/Rose, Balck/Yellow etc and where to purchase. Thank you!
Gorgeous Courtney! I love painting vintage-looking watercolors of flowers and hope to create a wall of my own paintings.
