It is all about the weekend view over here.
Like a bit of romance.
A sprinkle of sawdust
and the first few pumpkins starting to appear.
Happy weekend everyone.
It has been a week of projects over here.
Starting with flooring. And onto decorating. And coming up… might involve pumpkins and another Christmas tree.
I am knee deep in photography and writing for my book. And that is while the renovations and sawdust are collecting around me.
Sawdust Diaries
Did I mention a certain pair of antique french doors that made their way from a mansion in Alameda to my French Country Cottage?
They did. And they have the most beautiful patina – tiger striped oak that is bleached from the years to perfection. And they were the perfect pieces for a small space we have renovated.
You can see a glimpse of them here- but right now- they are covered in sawdust and waiting for fresh paint around them… stay tuned for a closer look and more coming your way.
Book work
I got up early this morning- and it was early enough that it was pitch black outside. Why is it already pitch black at 5:30 am…. The seasons are changing already. And last week, we went from 100+ to upper 70’s and a bit chilly at night. September means we are zooming towards autumn… and that we are zooming towards my book needing to be wrapped up. Can you believe it?
So when I got up this morning- I decided to log a bit of time writing while I wait for renovations to wrap and to get those rooms photographed.
Pumpkins
I was so excited that a local garden center was chock full of pumpkins.
I loaded up a cart with all sizes big and small and even found a few heirlooms- though I am waiting on those golden brown beauties that I absolutely adore as well as a few more whites and grays for some upcoming stylings.
I did find the irony of photographing pumpkins while the Christmas tree twinkled away quite amusing- and thinking September is a perfect time for holiday decor to start making an appearance.

Hi Courtney, I have read and read this lovely publication all last week. It has some amazing ideas and always send me through a frenzies of redoing something in my little Shabby Lane Cottage. I love the new changes and especially not seeing something that was in one of sister magazines. When I see that I feel like I have wasted my money. lol I love having a double dose of you! Once through your blogging and now through Romantic Homes! High 5 to the whole staff!
xoxo Jo
