A pretty little basket cart is always a good thing. Whether shopping a flea market for treasures or the garden for fresh blooming beauties- those little carts can be used and enjoyed in so many ways.
Even simply just sitting and looking pretty in the house wherever you might want to tuck them.
Obsessions
I became obsessed with vintage shopping carts about a month ago and I went on a bit of a wander on the internet to see what I could find. While I found several reproductions that were absolutely darling- I was really leaning towards a vintage one for a project I am working on- and so, I kept looking until I found one that spoke to me.
So off I went to search the usual vintage treasure troves- craigslist, eBay and etsy- and found a few good contenders. Admit that I *almost* brought a woven basket one home after it sat in my cart for a week- but also looked at local vintage shops online and when I bumped into this one with wood slats and pretty vintage details- I was instantly inspired by it and knew this one was the one.
Of course, I did a bit of research on it before buying. But didn’t find too many that looked just like it for comparison, age, pricing so that didn’t help much.
A tip with vintage is to do your research and pay attention to details. BUT IF it talks loudly to you, you love it and. know it and the price is reasonable to you? Write the Check. Or in todays online shopping world- Send The Money. You don’t want the One to be the The One that Got away because you took too long. The Best bargains are the ones that make you happy when you see them everyday.
I have been puttering around here and there with this basket cart. I shared a quick snap on instagram stories while I was clipping spent blooms and weeding the garden. The cart held all the garden ‘clutter’ while I worked- so convenient and easy!
Lots of questions about where to find one. And so- today, I am sharing a few of the market carts I found while shopping for this one.
Sometimes you want true vintage like this one -quirks and flaws and all. Or maybe you want the next best thing. Vintage style that has todays modern and usable function- sharing a few options for each below. (some affiliate links. )
Large Wicker Basket Cart
This one actually comes in two sizes and has a liner- which is so cute. And they are a great price for the size and details.
Mommy & Me wicker trolleys
This one is so cute and it comes in two sizes- one for you and one for your wee ones. I love the chubby bottom it has.
French Country Style Open Weave cart
Love this tall basket with the open weave detail and since it is so tall- it can fit a ton of your shopping finds inside.
Vintage Inspired
Love this cutie with the little woven stripe.
With a lid
The baskets with lids makes it easy to store and move those purchases – even over less than smooth terrain. Love the rounded front shape too.
White Wicker
This one is a darling little vintage style and ready to enjoy.
Vintage Perfection
If you are looking for vintage- here are a couple that I was considering. Just remember with vintage- they may not roll as easily or be as usable. But what vintage lacks in functionality- they make up for with charm.
Primitive Vintage
This vintage basket is such a cutie- it was a serious contender – I love the woven wood slats.
Vintage Metal Basket
Love this cutie too. It has such a classic grocery store basket look. And it looks like it is sturdy enough to gather up all the garden veggies and breads. Not to mention- I love the green paint.
I hope this helps give you some ideas for incorporating a charming vintage style market cart into your decor. And of course a favorite way to use this one is with an abundance of beautiful blooms inside. You can also use faux blooms for beautiful year round easy decor.
Happy Shopping all!

Hmmm …Wondering if I could construct one myself with a smallish vintage wicker hamper that I’ve had for years and years sitting by the wayside. I’d have to figure out the wheel design, front “stop”, and handle, and the of course, have hubby help along with the construction. Thanks for the inspiration…always love your posts, Courtney!
