Refresh your Home
Simple is key to updating any room in the house right now. Winter homes speak cozy warmth and freshness for the new year- bringing in beauty without overwhelming a space or spending a ton to update is the goal. So simple ways to refresh your home are perfect. And with those changes in your decor- you can make a room feel fresh and new. Today we are talking about a few simple things I have done to refresh in January.
Something Old
Everything old is new- meaning- bring something vintage in. In the bathroom, you might have spied a new to me antique mirror that I found on marketplace. It is small and delicate and those curves add a ton of French flair.
While I loved the other mirror here as well- a quick change brought a new look. A simple swap of the mirror that was here with this smaller one made the bathtub area feel totally different in a snap.
Something New
I am one of those folks who like what I like and while that is a good thing- it also can lead to feeling like something is in a bit of a design ‘rut’ when I don’t change it for awhile. So simple and easy changes are the best way to refresh without changing everything. Add a new quilt to the bed, update your duvet cover or even just a few different throw pillows- little changes with little commitment are easy to do and change again when you are ready.
Something Borrowed
One of my favorite things to do when redecorating is to shop the house. Taking something from one room and borrowing it for another is an easy way to change things up and make a room feel like it has a whole new look and not spend any money doing it. Bring in throw pillows from the sofa for the bedroom or a bench from the dining room for the foot of the bed for example. Or it can be little borrows- like the silver goblets from the china cabinet for flowers on the nightstand. Look at your rooms with a creative eye and give it a go.
Something Blue
Or red, or yellow or blush or whatever color speaks to you- bring in a pop of color that is different than your usual look. If you don’t want to make a bigger change color commitment- you can use flowers to add that punch of color to a room.
Something Unexpected
One of the best ways to make a design statement in your room is to bring in something unique or unexpected. A garden element indoors for example- maybe it is a statue you place on a table or a garden dining set used in the kitchen, etc. Instantly something that is in a different place than it usually would be gets people talking and makes a design statement. Don’t be afraid to bring out your favorite oddities or unique treasures and enjoy them in a different way than usual.
I hope that this post gives you some ideas for refreshing your home without breaking the bank or even shopping anywhere other than your house and garden.
