Sometimes the simplest of projects start with the simplest of inspirations. While we were thrifting a few weeks ago, I found a couple of natural brooms mingling with vintage halloween and thought instantly of creating a beautiful floral autumn broom.

They were embellished with fabric bows and were a couple of dollars each. Of course, I didn’t look at them and think I am bringing them home to use as is- but I looked at them knowing exactly what I would do to create a charming autumn moment.

Dried floral autumn broom
Creating a dried floral autumn broom is a project that is super simple to do and so easy to customize as well. I used some of the farmers market dried flowers and grasses that I had on hand but you could use whatever you would like. Maybe hydrangeas or roses clipped from the garden. Simple long grasses, wheat, etc. Anything goes!

What you Need
- Hot glue and glue gun
- Florists Wire
- Scissors
- Broom
- Dried or fresh flowers
- Ribbon

Hot glue or Wire
I think you can go with what you are most comfortable using here. Hot glue is easy of course, but I have another broom idea I will be working on so I didn’t want anything that I had to peel and pick off when changing the look. So I simply used wire to secure the dried floral branches to the broom and it worked perfectly. I should note if using dried flowers you will have a bit of a mess so plan accordingly. (and you use the broom to clean up as you go as below haha) You can also use fresh flowers and let them dry in place on the broom- I will show how that looks at the end of the post.

Choose your blooms
Simply choose your blooms for your perfect idea of a floral autumn broom and start to lay them out a bit on the broom to get an idea of a look you like.

Layering is key
Layer the foliage on the broom and then layer the blooms until you get an autumn broom look you are happy with and then wire them to the broom at the top. (or glue)
Add in any extras needed
After you get the wire wrapped up and the ends cut off- you might notice that some of the flowers fell out or broke off. It happens. So just grab a couple extras and tuck in any extra flowers to any bare spots that might need more oomph.

Add a ribbon
If you want to add a pretty touch- a lovely ribbon at the top either tied in a bow or left long is lovely. I love how this 5 minute project using thrifted treasures and florals create a lovely floral autumn broom moment.

Place your broom anywhere you would like a little touch of natural autumn. I am showing the fresher flower broom on a little peek of something coming your way for thifty treasures but it could be placed anywhere you would like.

Cute idea!
The old broom turned out to be lovely once again. you just have a natural nack for beauty. I hope I can make my old broom to look half as good. I’ll try to gather some tried and true flowers, that will help.
I love the Idea.
This broom idea is darling, love it. I can’t wait to see what is next.
Really fun idea, Courtney! Wish I had a little broom around. 🙂 Enjoy yours!!
