‘When witches go riding & black cats are seen…
the moon laughs and whispers… ’tis near Halloween!’
My daughter has been planning a mini soiree with a couple of her friends
but with so many bugs going around- and my girl herself not feeling so hot~
it didn’t look like it would happen.
But at the last minute
(literally yesterday in the morning)
she decided to just have a couple of her girlfriends over last night for a little fun.
So we carved the pumpkins
lit the candles,
and put Halloween party radio on Pandora
while we got the house decorated for a couple hours of
creepiness, scary movies and fun.
I don’t decorate the whole house for Halloween.
I’m more of a front porch and living room Halloween decorating girl.
The rest of the house stays Fallish for a couple more days…
until I start bringing out the Christmas decorations.
😉
But this year, I have the outside sitting area with the fireplace decorated as well.
I love all those pumpkins I found at Lowes~ especially the little mini’s.
We carved the two end pumpkins and put them back in place on the mantel
while a third found a spot inside the fireplace.
While at Lowes, I also picked up a can of chalkboard paint and used it to create a chalkboard with a chunky gold frame I already had and a piece of wood.
A few coat of chalkboard paint and it was ready for a ghoulish message.
With silhouette cut-out bats and owls from the $ Tree~
and inspiration from Martha~ we put a swarm of bats on the wall
and created spooky artwork with a couple of owls and thrift store frames.
My daughter absolutely loves these little creepy silhouettes
and covered her room with them as well.
A super quick and super quickly thrown together party~
but lots of fun for the girls.
It looks like the rain will stay away on Halloween so we will be heading out for a little trick or treating~
which means wandering around chatting with my friend Lydia while
our girls giggle their way from house to house.
Lydia’s husband Matt always goes with us~ he is one of those guys that makes a detailed plan
on just where and how and what route we go trick or treating.
I think we must walk 5 or 6 miles on Halloween each year and our town is hilly~
so it’s actually a great workout but I have learned that
I better wear comfortable walking shoes or my feet are paying about halfway through.
🙂
