Do you remember when you were a child and it was like the world around you was filled with magic
and wonder – especially during the holidays?
and wonder – especially during the holidays?
Each twinkly light on the Christmas tree seemed to glow a bit brighter
and each time you saw lights (or a plane maybe;)) moving across the sky on Christmas Eve
you just knew that it was Santa flying across the sky in his sleigh.
Christmas is about much more than children’s visions of Santa, of course.
It is a holiday where you celebrate the reason for the season.
Though sometimes, it seems as you grow and become an adult some
of that youthful, magical feeling that Christmas brings goes away just a bit.
Christmas comes with a whole other set of feelings as you get older
and maybe that is just a part of growing up.

Though sometimes, it seems as you grow and become an adult some
of that youthful, magical feeling that Christmas brings goes away just a bit.
Christmas comes with a whole other set of feelings as you get older
and maybe that is just a part of growing up.
But when you look at Christmas through they eyes of a child-
that magic and wonder is everywhere in full, bright, neon colors-
because you see it how they see it.
because you see it how they see it.
Every light twinkles a bit more, every candy cane tastes just a bit better
and every shooting star or airplane in the sky on Christmas Eve
just has to be Santa in his sleigh.
You just KNOW it is. 😉

One of the most amazing things that blogging has brought my way
have been the opportunities to participate in projects where I am able to
be a part of something that helps put a smile on someones face.
It warms my heart so much and it is such a gift for me to be able to give back.
When I was asked if I could join Lowe’s in a very special
very top secret
very busy and very amazing
couple of days in Los Angeles
doing something that I love to do
and for a special project with kids
I jumped at the chance to be able to join.
It involved A LOT of Christmas trees
and bags and bags (and bags) of ornaments
a movie production company
a lot of coffee (a lot)
and yes, about 3 dozen donuts that smelled absolutely amazing
but that were not eaten
There was bag after bag of faux snow
countless strands of Christmas lights all across the ceiling
a couple of special polar bears
a stack of wonky presents that reached all the way to the ceiling
and a whole team of folks who came to work behind the scenes
in a room inside a boys and girls club
to make children’s Christmas visions come to life.
You see, the kids were asked what Christmas would like
if they were in charge.
and they drew pictures of their visions.
From a tree covered in donuts
to a Santa with a blue beard
a tree covered with stuffed animals
and a reindeer above a fireplace with ornaments on it
and a winter wonderland covered in mounds of snow
all the way to a magical rainbow above a candy land tree
that had clouds of cotton candy on each end
The kids imaginations ran wild
and they had absolutely no idea what would happen next.
2 days
countless cups of coffee
25 (or more) trees fluffed
30 bags of faux snow sprinkled
lots and lots of laughs- and even some singing
later
and well…
you can guess what happened
when those kids walked in.
when those kids walked in.
Hope you enjoy the video and that it brings a little bit more magic into your holiday season
just as being a part of this project has done for me.
*Side note:
The trees and all the decorations were provided to some of the children and families who
wouldn’t have a Christmas tree this year otherwise.
Which I think is pretty awesome.
I want to say a huge thank you to Lowe’s for sponsoring this for the Boys and Girls Club and these kids and for giving me the opportunity to be a part of it.
