~Here’s a little bit about Via and about her letterpress business~
Hello. My name is Olivia, some call me by my nickname, Via. My company is named Olive-Route which is simply the root meaning of my names combined. Someone once told me the best way to name your business is to name it after yourself, so I did (sort of), I guess indirectly…
Olive- Route is a design and letterpress studio located in Berkeley, California. My work consists of (but never limited to) wedding invitations, special announcements, personal stationery, business identity and art prints. I mostly do custom work for clients, but am open to those who wish to bring their own designs, collaboration, and/or artwork to be letterpressed. I work on 2 presses, a Chandler and Price platen press that’s reaching it’s 100th birthday, and a mid-century Vandercook proof press. I adore them both, equally. I’ve always had a passion for design, although I couldn’t figure out which medium suited me best until I found myself in graphic arts. I’ve always been attracted to things crafted by hand and when I apprenticed at a print shop a few years ago, I realized I could do both– design and print my own work–and found it really satisfying. From one client to the next, I started my little studio…
