I love gorgeous layered ruffled tablecloths.
Set atop the table just so,
draped perfectly across & bunched up here and there…
So much charm!

There’s something about ruffles cascading towards the floor
that is so dreamy and romantic
and it’s perfect for a shabby vintage inspired table.

I wanted a ruffled cloth for the outdoor living dining table I did
(if you missed the post- you can find it here
I couldn’t find one anywhere I looked, let alone find one
that would fit my 10′ long farmhouse table.
But, I thought about something that I had purchased on clearance awhile
back but hadn’t used that was just sitting in the armoire in packages.
They were fabric…
they had ruffles..
they were gorgeous…
so I thought…
Why not…

I grabbed two king sized bedskirts out of the armoire
and layered them on the table.
They are all cotton fabric, even the part that goes under the mattress
(I have seen some that are different material under the mattress)
They worked wonderfully for the romantic look I was trying to achieve.
A little different…
but I love how it came out.

un grande saluto da Roma!
What an absolutely genius idea Courtney!! I'm not exaggerating when I say that you should be published in magazines. 🙂 I'm thinking about doing this on our outdoor table for my daughter's "tea party" themed birthday this summer. It would look so sweet! Thanks for the great inspiration as always!

What a wonderful idea! I have a queen size simply shabby chic one that I bought for one dollar at a yard sale recently and do not have a queen bed but though it would be good for something! You have just given me some ideas! Maybe I can die mine pink and put a union jack in the middle as the middle is quality cotton……This is one reason I love to blog all the creativity out there. Thanks for sharing your brain!
Sherry
So charming and romantic!
How fun, Courtney–who would have thought!
What a fab idea! Love it!!
you're killin' me. dead. done – passed out. All I can picture is the characters from 'Chocolat' enjoying warm chocolate and champagne. love.
xo Jeanne.
You are a genius, Courtney! What a great idea! I was wondering where in the world you purchased such a huge tablecloth. My aunt has a very large dining table that seats 16, and she custom ordered all of her table linens from Italy. She needed your innovative thinking, didn't she!
I love your outdoor living spaces. I bet you and your family have had such wonderful times together out there!

What a neat idea! I love it…who would ever know. I like layering old lace curtains on tables too. I have learned that you should never, ever, throw away old lace anything.(-:
Looks great! I did a bed skirt table cloth on my blog a few posts ago…used a baby bed skirt with green velvet. Come see! http:piecesoflifeetal.blogspot.com

How'd I miss this one? I love how they turned out too! And now I'm going to be on the lookout at the Goodwill for the perfect dust ruffle *winks* I did once use one of those elastic ruffles that go around a baby crib on one of my settees outside that I'd covered in vintage barkcloth and it looked great too! Great thinking outside the box my friend! Vanna
This looks amazing. I made a tablecloth with the thought in mind of a dust ruffle because I like that look. YOur post is incredible. Love your blog too.
Blessings,
Debbie

This is fantastic young lady! I love this, I always wanted to do something as romantic as this and here it is! I love your blog, it's so inspirational, I'M ready for this, love it!!!
Have a great week.

You totally lucked out with those bedskirts. So many of them these days have cheap, thin white fabric for the hidden part….or worst yet some kind of paper type product.
The end results of your new tablecloth is very pretty, and I doubt anyone would know the truth of where it started from unless you told them. Very lovely!
What a great idea! And much less expensive than those designer tablecloths, I'm sure. You've inspired me to do the same.
Blessings & Hugs,
Karen
