Simple and inexpensive decor ideas for decking the halls? Yes, please. I love to incorporate things that are easy to to do and budget friendly- and that look beautifully festive and merry.
Simple & Inexpensive
Todays post is all about a few favorite things I am using this year.
Vintage Wood Crate
Perfect for placing a small tree in and tucking nearly anywhere- I love vintage wood crates. You can find vintage crates at thrift stores and tag sales- or use a new crate that has a rustic look.

Wood Beaded Garland
Another favorite- and so easy to make and inexpensive to buy. I created this simple wood garland for the tree- but you can also use them on the mantel or staircases for a charming farmhouse inspired touch.

Fresh Greens
Fresh greens are always favorites for me to incorporate in the house for the holidays. Aside from them smelling wonderful- I love to add that fresh element and refresh as needed. If you have any pine or cedar trees- you can simply clip a few branches and bring them in- but something you might not know is that you can go by the tree lots (at a home improvement store for example) and they will give you all the bottom clippings they remove from their Christmas trees- for free.
Fresh Fruit
An absolute favorite of mine- using fresh fruit in holiday decor. Think citrus like tangerines, oranges, grapefruit, etc. Or go with beautiful pears or apples or any other favorites.
Logs for display
Always fun to use for display- birch logs are so charming tucked into fireplaces that are not being used or even faux fireplaces. But you can also use regular old logs and firewood if you would like. And you can often find bundles of them just outside the door at your supermarket for very little cost.
Inexpensive Fairy Lights
So simple and easy to tuck anywhere you would like to use them- and they bring a beautiful magical ambiance. I love to drape them on the faux logs in the fireplace, string in the branches of a tree outdoors and add to a centerpiece on the table or the mantel.
