A couple of days at the beach is definitely one of my favorite things to do when I am looking for a little bit of quiet and a place to gather up some inspiration and energy.
But when things are busy and a getaway isn’t on the agenda-
I retreat to a favorite spot for relaxing at home.
I am a huge fan of soaking in the tub in the evenings and
especially in fall and winter when there is a chill in the air.
And this little new but vintage style cast iron tub is extra deep-
which = an extra big soak factor.
This is a Swedish style slipper tub- and I am in love with it.
And something that I love to do is to create a spa type feeling that really helps me to
unwind and relax.
A few candles flickering, sprinkling of salts for soaking sore muscles, and a little soft music in the background… all together they equal a few minutes of ‘me time’.
And with chilly temps on the horizon-
and creating a spa inspired spot to relax in your bathroom is a perfect way to put together a spot to invite you to relax a bit.
And it is easy with a few tips:
and am a little bit obsessed with having a lot on hand.
Thick, oversized luxurious towels definitely create a spa feeling- and are perfect to wrap up in
and to look pretty while waiting to be used.
Roll them up on the shelf, or fold them on a chair or stool
or hang them on several hooks on the wall.
bath salts are perfect for sprinkling in hot water to create a relaxing muscle soak.
If you haven’t ever tried bath salts- you are in for a treat.
Whether you choose one or several- candles are a great way to invite relaxation.
Turn off the busy bright lights that are often in bathrooms- and light a few candles.
Just remember to be safe with them and don’t leave them unattended.
at our local Safeway.
Bring your favorite magazines to thumb through while soaking.
That quiet half hour in the bath is a perfect time to catch up on reading and to find inspiration for your next project. Sunset Magazine is a favorite of mine- especially for travel recommendations.
5. Soft music
On my ipod it is likely going to be opera or classical- but choose what speaks to you.
and with cooler temps moving in tonight-
it is definitely feeling like bath time is on the agenda.
What about you? Do you have a favorite place in your home to go to relax for a bit?
Happy Wednesday everyone.
