I went to out vintage shopping with my husband recently. And he asked me what I was looking for this trip – and I told all the good vintage things. And everything. Including ironstone (to fill up that cupboard in the dining room) vintage chippy anything and old baskets.

The first stop- we didn’t find a thing. And the second stop was looking to be much like the first- until I spotted the ‘basket’ room. Really not just baskets- but there were a whole bunch of them. And I picked up the first one that caught my eye- a charming branch handle basket that was perfect for gathering flowers. As I was looking at it, my husband walked in and I said- ‘I found the perfect crustic basket.’
And he looked at me and said ‘Crustic?’
I nodded yes. ‘ Crustic. Crusty and Rustic = crustic so Yeah, Crustic.’
We both laughed about it-because though I tried to say crusty rustic basket – I combined the words as they came out and voila- Crustic was born. The rest of the day- we both bantered back and forth about ‘crustic’ baskets. Crustic furniture. Crustic garden tools and basically, crustic anything. I did manage to find about 5 charming crustic baskets for a styling I am working on- so you will be seeing those coming soon.
Vintage Baskets & New Baskets
Which brings me back to baskets in decor for Friday Favorites. I have long loved using baskets in decor- from something to hold flowers or all the things that need a home- to hanging them on the wall for something charming and more. Today I am sharing a couple of my favorite basket displays from the past.
Wicker Trays & Baskets on the Wall

An oldie for sure- but a fun one. You can read more about this styling HERE
Simple Storage Ideas
I use these baskets in the bathroom in the armoire even now- they basically store makeup, contact needs, toothpaste and anything extra that needs a home in the bathroom but doesn’t need to be ‘seen’ out and about. You can read more about this storage idea & others HERE

French Market Basket Display Ideas
This is a fun one from a few years back- using a French market basket to display flowers- and the secret to be able to do that. Sharing all the details in THIS POST.

A Basket Full of Towels
Back in the bathroom- I used a vintage laundry basket under the sink for holding rolled up towels. You can see more about it and also see This Bathroom Before & After HERE

I love this vintage basket for the garden. So easy to tote around with me and toss clippings into – or use it to display fresh flowers. You can see more in this post HERE
