Welcome to the weekend view. This and that & randomness from the week that was all together in one post.
Peony petals
Big, ruffly peonies full of petals have been in the house this week. My husband ran into Trader Joe’s and brought home a bucket filled with peonies. He found both coral and burgundy & I don’t usually have big burgundy peonies in the house- so it was a treat to play with photographing them and enjoying them in various areas. And when they drop those petals- they drop a lot of petals. Even so- dropped peony petals have their own kind of beauty.
Garden Roses
I am getting ready to work on a blog post about how similar some of my garden roses are to the peonies this year- I clipped a bunch of them yesterday before the rain arrived and am enamored with how they look and smell.
Lake Escape
We hopped in the car and took a drive to a mountain lake last week. I have been a tad crazy with work and yet at the same time- working a little slower than usual with a rotator cuff injury. So after several chock full busy days- it was nice to take off for a few hours and relax. No cell service meant no browsing- and more present relaxation. Side note- those brown trees are dead from pine beetles. We could not believe how many big old growth trees there were affected.
Randomness & Changes
I mentioned that there has been a shift inside since the whole craziness of the past couple of years started. There is a part of me that feels like I will ease back to a bit of that 2 years ago place in some capacity- but not like before. I am not the same as I was and the other part of me feels like it is time for changes. My priorities, dreams and goals are going in a different direction in some ways but at the same time- some are even more in focus than before. I have talked with quite a few people that have felt something change in their priorities & direction too- so if you are feeling a shift or a little lost on the path also- just know that you are not alone in feeling that way.
Grand baby number 2
So excited to share that my son Cullan and his wife are expecting their first baby in October. They know it is a boy already and both of our families are beyond excited for them and all of us. This will be the first grandchild for Diem’s family- and grand baby number 2 for us. Here they are at Juliette’s first birthday party a couple of weeks ago.
Wandering
This weeks wandering has taken me to beauty finds and delicious recipes.
My friend KariAnne always looks so perfectly put together- love this post where she shares 10 of her favorite drugstore makeup finds.
This Mozzarella Bruschetta looks so.good. Find the recipe HERE
Coming your way
All about those garden roses & peonies- and if you find it easy to tell the difference.
I played with another table last week- using some of the same elements and some different ones- stay tuned for a post on changing thing up with linens.
And I am working on a trailer update- we haven’t gotten too much done recently but are planning on spending a day out there this next week and tinkering with a few things.
Happy weekend all.

Congratulations on the grand baby. Babies are the best. I can’t wait for the peony tutorials, I find them hard to grow.

Courtney, I am living vicariously through you with your lovely roses. I live in the seattle area, and we have had so much rain and cool temperatures, that my roses are barely budding at this time. It’s wonderful to see all the beautiful blooms your garden is producing!

thank you for sharing your internal “shift” . I, too, feel forever changed. i am 73 with health issues. I feel i have missed so much of my best “sunset” years. Your beautiful blog has been a most enjoyable experience on some rather “dark” days. Thanks!
