It is hard to believe that Christmas 2020 is already wrapped up and we are just a few days away from a brand new year.

This holiday season has been a whirlwind. Though I started putting up trees and decking the halls extra early this year- it surprised me when I saw that the calendar was already showing Christmas just a week away and there were a few things that didn’t get shared this year. which always seems to be the case. One of them was a recap of the 12 Trees of Christmas.
12 Christmas Trees
2020 just seemed to call for Extra Christmas magic. And extra Christmas color. My trees this year were more colorful and bold than I have done in several years- and yes, vintage inspired colorful lights even appeared on the greenhouse and barn.

I mean- who am I? Vintage style colorful lights on the barn? haha. This is the first year we have had colorful lights outside in probably 20 years. I kid you not.
But you guys needed all that color and mixing it up too. I can’t tell you how many comments I got about how much you loved this series and seeing all the different Christmas trees at French Country Cottage this year. Usually, I am far more muted and grab my go -to ornaments and looks and make a few tweaks but nothing crazy. But to be honest, I really needed to simmer and soak up all that Christmas magic more than ever this year.

While working on the first red traditional tree of the season- (in July!) I started out adding just a bit of this and that. And stepped back- and it just wasn’t enough. So a bit more and a bit more and before I knew it- it was layered in beautiful bold colors and ornaments and was such a happy tree and just seeing a tree twinkling away in July full of so much joy and color made me so happy.
That was when I knew this year- Christmas was going to be far more colorful. From bold color to layers of several colors to vintage colors- along with my favorite muted gilded looks and French inspired trees too. I even questioned if doing 12 trees was enough to show all I had in mind.

Truth be told- I decorated more than 12 trees this holiday season. And I also created several videos. You might remember my phone pooping out on me and not turning on while working on filming a video. It was less than a year old just quit one day. I had to wait to go to Apple to have one of their geniuses help me -and unfortunately allllll the videos and photos I had were gone when they got the phone to work. And – yes, I have the cloud- it just was not backing up as it was supposed to. Pretty much par for the course for 2020, right?
So I will work on those for next year- and for now- here are all of the 12 Trees together in one post so that you can come back and delve into this anytime during the year when you need a little Christmas magic and inspiration. I also shared several videos on Instagram showing close up details of these stylings.

If you missed it- I did 2 video series for Balsam Hill based off of some of these trees as well. How to Decorate Frosted Trees and How to Decorate Slim Trees. Each video shows 3 different looks for each type of tree and tips on what to consider when decorating them and also has a couple of DIY ornaments that you can make.

Stay tuned for a winter table idea for NYE at home coming your way tomorrow.

I find myself reviewing every tree. They are all beautiful and I love each one. You are truly talented, ( and energetic). Thank you for sharing these photos. To prepare so many tress must have required tremendous effort.
I agree with Mary, just beautiful. I am trying to figure out how you store all those wonderful decorations. I can’t help collecting myself, but storing is always a problem 🙂 Thanks for sharing
Hi Kim!! I do have a storage unit where large storage goes- and one of the nice things about the Balsam Hill ornaments is they come in beautiful boxes that are easy to stack and store.
Beautiful trees–every single one of them is delightful! My husband and I are taking down our garage and are considering putting up a barn kit, similar to the one on your property. Could you please remind me of the source of your kit? Thank you.
