In an area at the back of our property
there are towering old cedar trees with low twiggy branches
that all line up in a row
there are towering old cedar trees with low twiggy branches
that all line up in a row
Just beyond that row of trees
sits an open meadow with an old apple orchard and big old oak trees.
It’s a spot that has always had somewhat of a magical feel to me
It’s peaceful and calm and like something out a fairytale.
I would love to set a gazebo or sitting area somewhere up here
and enjoy this enchanted spot in the forest.
I would love to set a gazebo or sitting area somewhere up here

But for now
I decided to work on something that I have been thinking about doing
in this area for awhile.
I decided to work on something that I have been thinking about doing
in this area for awhile.
Setting a table that is natural and rustic
but elegant at the same time.
The tabletop is covered with gathered pinecones, a few white pumpkins
and those gorgeous Debi Lilly spray roses I have been loving from Safeway
😉
I hauled all those elements up to the back of our property
and this simple Autumn table appeared.
Set with my grandmothers china
green stemware from Dollar Tree
They are simply thick slices from a cedar log
It’s simple, rustic
and elegant at the same time.
A perfect mix.
and elegant at the same time.
A perfect mix.
Something to consider if you decide to set a table under pine or cedar trees~
don’t trim any branches ahead of time.
My husband trimmed some of the really low hanging branches a few weeks ago
and it left lots of drips of sap on the ground that I found I was stepping in as I was photographing.
Oh that was fun.
Though I am going with the idea that the added 5 pounds of sap on each of my boots
probably gave me good leg workout and burned some calories-
so it’s all good.
😉
We have pouring rain this morning and cooler weather moving into our area this week
Fall has finally arrived here in Northern California~ it’s time to start warming toes by the fire!
Happy Monday!!

Beautiful! Love the chandi in the trees – how did you hang it and wire it – does it have a plug on the end to use with an extension cord? I might have to look for one of those to use outdoors!

Truly stunning Courtney! It all looks so whimsical and like something out of a fairy tale. You must have had one seriously long extension cord or some other clever way to get that chandy to light up and it is gorgeous! 🙂

I agree with all the comments – the chandelier, the roses, the linens, all so soft and romantic – juxtaposed with the rustic and natural, like the sliced tree chargers, the pumpkins, the tree canopy – that's unexpected awesomeness! And please do tell how you got the chandelier to light up out there in the woods!

Gorgeous! I have to admit that I kept wondering where is the electrical source for the chandelier? A plug hidden at the base of the tree…the world's longest extension cord, light compliments of Photoshop? Regardless, a perfect setting. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
Courtney says
The chandelier has a plug on the end- so I just ran a very long extension cord to the area where the table is and plugged it in. The cord runs alongside the tree and branches.

Teddee Grace says
I'm not seeing any responses from you about how you ran electricity for the chandelier. It made the scene!
Courtney says
Hi Teddee! I responded on FB- and thought I had over here as well. My apologies. I ran an extension cord (very long!) to the area where I set up the table. The chandelier has a plug on the end of the wires- so I just put the chandelier up in the tree and plugged it in. Hope that helps.

Courtney,
I have been trying to figure out a way to do this in my yard/on our farm, but the apple trees are not tall enough, and the other trees I have out front are too straight…..Aspen trees…..I have a candle chandelier that I have had for about 6 years and I have yet to figure out just where to put it…..I will keep trying…..We have recently put in some "V" trellises with new apple trees, and the wires are fairly high….maybe once the trees have grown it will be the perfect spot for the candle chandelier….time to get a perfect table and chairs I think!
