Citrus and orange blossoms mingling with olive branches are on repeat over here.
Last week I shared the prettiest basket and wreath for a pop of citrus goodness on the door- and this week it is all about another way to enjoy this beautiful Villa Cucina collection from Balsam Hill.
Citrus & Olive on the table
You know one of the things I love about faux arrangements like this one- is that they are so easy to move around and enjoy in several places to create a charming look wherever you would like to.
Like on a table as a centerpiece. Of course, the Villa Cucina arrangement makes a perfect centerpiece all on its own. Simply set it in the center or off to the side just a bit to create a charming look. This is a small table- so keep that in mind when using faux arrangements- you might need more than one to fill the length of the table.
But I also had another idea.
Hanging Basket Centerpiece
Because- why not, right? As I played with this table top styling- I wondered just what that hanging basket might look like. I thought about cornucopias and baskets filled with fruits and flowers and all things good on the table- and imagined that this basket could look much the same.
Simply laid on the table- it created a lower arrangement that was full of so much lovely. I pulled the burlap bow over to the side and used that as part of the centerpiece as well.
To complete the citrus and olive inspired setting- I scattered tangerines, lemons, kumquats and olives along the center of the table- along with a few dried oranges and olive leaves.
I love the natural feeling it brought to the table top – to note- those olives and kumquats do like to roll – so keep that in mind while setting up.
I used simple white plates, gilded vintage glasses and flatware tied with a gold ribbon to bring in those warm tones.
Tabletop Styling Tips
- Add Something Fresh
When using faux on the table- bring in something fresh to mix and mingle with it. A small container of fresh clipped leaves or herbs, scattered fruit, etc. This creates a bigger centerpiece and fresh leaves or fruit play well with faux florals.
2. Think Outside the Box
That hanging basket on the door? Or maybe that wreath in the kitchen? Think outside the box with them and bring them into play on the table. A wreath is perfect for using as a centerpiece on a round table- and the door basket lays on the table and creates a lovely ‘cornucopia’ look and feeling.
3. Add Layers
Once again- layers are king for me. I love layers in design- in the house and on the table. For this setting, I used layers of fresh fruit, dried oranges, olives and leaves- to create interest and a centerpiece that filled the length of the table. You can use fresh or faux here- the key is just to bring in the layers.

Not much room left on the table to put the food, am I the only one noticing this?
This is a small vintage table – so definitely not a lot of room even without a centerpiece on it. But also- since this is a table set for two- I generally would think of just serving on the plate and sitting to enjoy rather than bringing bowls and platters and passing food around the table.

I’m with you- the basket on the door touches my heart, I STRUGGLE between French and English design. I love both, and appreciate that you show us both. I also liked how you used it for the table! It’s unexpected. I personally liked it on your island in the kitchen, and will use that idea for myself. I think it coordinates WELL with your recent LIVING room floral design, which I duplicated. I think it would be lovely in your little cottage kitchen as well?? So tempted to purchase Balsam Hill’s and be done, but I sure do love the one you duplicated with fresh. It’s the fullness and more muted TONES I LIKE. I might do some tweaking to Balsam Hills. 😉 YOUR ideas are blessings to me as always. 🧡

This is absolutely beautiful. I was surprised to read that these arrangements are faux. You put such perfect finishing touches on the table (real) that no on would guess any of it is faux. I do love Balsam Hill.
