Sometimes you just need a change.
Like a new pair of shoes, pair of jeans or even a cute jacket.
Maybe you are feeling a bit more sassy or a bit more relaxed- and your outfit reflects that.
And sometimes-maybe it is a new wardrobe piece that brings a change.
I like to think of my home kind of like I do a wardrobe.
But not one you change all the time of course. More like those pieces that are the staples in your wardrobe. The go to, everyday classic type pieces that you will wear again and again. The little black dress, favorite jeans and those cute shoes that make your legs look amazing.
Your furniture and large pieces like armoire’s, cupboards or statement mirrors are like that. Pieces that should be pieces that stand the test of time and be on repeat- because they are so much you and your style. And you aren’t going to change them with the seasons or on a whim.
But those other pieces.
The decorative items, knick-knacks, throw pillows and blankets and even things like inexpensive artwork- well, those can be interchanged and updated like your wardrobe- with the seasons.
And in the bedroom- I think of bedding in much the same way as a seasonal change.
Or sometimes an every couple weeks change if truth was told.
Last week, my bed was covered in blush and natural nubby linens…
(more on that styling soon)
And this week?
Blues.
Because… summertime blues.
You see, while shopping at HomeGoods recently, I bumped into a cozy warm blanket that I fell in love with. It is super simple-just a blanket like one that goes in between the sheets and the comforter or on top for an extra layer. But the color was speaking to me.
The perfect shade of steel blue with a subtle pattern.
I instantly thought of another piece I had at home that I knew would be perfect with it.
And so, into the cart it went.
Just a few changes and it was a fresh end of summer look.
A blue and white floral quilt adds the perfect touch of romantic charm.
And I mixed in a couple of gray linen euro pillows from Shabby Chic
that mingled perfectly picking up the color from the throw.
I also added a vintage floral ticking pillow from that French daybed.
And some simple linen pillows to balance the patterns.
On the nightstand…
dainty garden roses that smell incredible
add a touch of sweetness.
I do realize that next week is September… which means… I might be changing a few more things again. But I am loving the blues and grays with just a touch of pink in here right now.
And it was so inexpensive to get a new look.

I ordered a pair of linen ruffled pillow cases today. Duvet cover is out of my budget at this time…was thinking about combining them with a white duvet covered down comforter and a natural color bedskirt . Any ideas to tie it all together? Thanks!
