I fall in love with perfect patina…
not too dark- not too light but just right
and with lots of chippy rusty goodness…
it gets me every time
The old leaves, flowers and scrolly designs are delightful
and love the little flower pot holder underneath.

This shade of green is so charming
I love when I find pieces that are already a perfect color
and show their age so beautifully.

This vintage garden table and the matching four chairs
were a craigslist find last year for $80.
I adored the set when I first saw it
and
was head over heels for the green and rusty crusty loveliness.
I placed it outside in the back yard last year
and did a Valentines post and a winter garden dining post.
When the weather started getting yucky
I moved it under our pergola to keep it protected a bit more.
But, with all the moving and the issues from the weather
the glass tabletop was inadvertently broken
the glass tabletop was inadvertently broken

I thought about replacing the glass…
and looked around a bit at different pieces
but decided on a different look for this little darling table.
A few random sized pieces of pine and cedar
( even a piece of old knotty pine from one of the house walls- love that)
and
these left over planks of wood became
a beautiful shabby tabletop.
A perfect little spot to sew & work on projects
I just love the look of the different widths of wood together
and the quirky look some of them have.
Together they are so charming and the table is just perfect in my
*almost finished up*
office space.
Yep…almost finished.
Guess I better get back to work!

That table is lovely – I haven't been a follower of your blog since last winter, so I don't know what it looked like with the glass top, but I love the look of the planked wood top!
Ciao Courtney.
Direi meraviglioso!!!
Hai un blog stupendo e ti seguo tra i miei preferiti.
Ciao Monica
It looks great Courtney! I love the misshapen look of the wood too! It gives it so much character! Love the finish on the wood too!
I adore green and love what you did with the top! …sorry about the pergola 🙁
Jan
Courtney I just love your table!! I love the idea of putting the wood pieces on top of it ~
It is soooo awesome!!
Oh, you brought it inside and made an office desk out of it? How smart, and I am sure it makes the space!!
I like how it turned, and the idea of use pieces of wood not all the same size! It's really shabby
Have a nice day
Silvia
Love your table, sad story – hate those kinds of traumatic disasters – but looks like the hardy table shall endure!
Well done score with it for sure!
Happy Monday to you as well!!!
I remember the pergola incident! Your table is pretty, and I like how you replaced the glass with the planks. I love the patina, too, and I am happy it was not damaged (other than the glass) last winter.
Just logging onto to my Google and saw this….AMAZING table. GORG! xoxo
Love it! That green is fabulous. Pop on over when you have a moment, I just redid a Tiger dresser.

Have a delicious day!
I love the patina to it, too, Courtney! What a great find for $80.00. Glass can get so expensive but I like your solution to the top.
Just beautiful!!
Courtney,
What a charming $80 treasure…hope to see it at NTT today:) I love what you did after the glass broke…you have given me an idea that I might use on my table with no glass that I have had for years now…thanks so much for sharing with me.
Blessings,
Linda
What a beautiful table! Love the chippy green color too. Fabulous find 🙂
I love that green patina. Here we have vicious winds which can lift a glass top and smash it! Love the new wood top too!
Lorraine
It's turned out to be the most perfect desk … love that shade of green! I scour Craigslist & Kijiji but NEVER score like this. I shall be sending you an email shortly. xox

I love green and that is one of my favorite green! Well done. Ciao
Hi Courtney~~ I love the table with the wood top on it. What a perfect space and it is so gorgeous too. Glad you were able to use it inside. I also noticed the peonies…stunning even when they arent "perfect " anymore. I like them best this way. I am doing a post on my blog this week about my "dead " roses and how I LOVE them.
Have a great day
~Cheryl
It makes such a lovely desk! Can't wait to see the office finished. ~ Maureen

Best Wishes and Blessings,

Great idea to top with planks. It looks so pretty and unique. Great job!
I have an identical (but square)patterned wrought iron table in my backyard that I broke the glass out of 3 DAYS AGO! lol Thanks for the great idea. I also have a stack of old fence wood that I might use!!! Got it figured, the wood has been out in the elements this long, it can stay there!!!! lol
That table is absolutely fabulous and with the new (ahem) repurposed table top it is marvelous ! Love it 😉
I have an old tole table too and I broke the glass 2 times now!! How many years bad luck is that?? At $250 to get another glass, I'll pass. Your is PERFECT! what a great idea! Did you just cut the pieces to hang over the edge or are they resting inside a lip where the glass would go? How did you attach them together, glue, brackets underneath? see, I have to do this myself as my hubby just wants the table gone!! Great idea! You made my day!!
I think wood adds so much more to the table. I also like the idea of using different wood pieces. Great color combo too.
Oh I am so sorry that the table fell victim but you did a fabulous job giving her new life. I love the wood and the different contrasts with size and color, beautiful. 🙂
xoxoxo
Now you've saved it twice! It keeps getting better…andrea@townandprairie
Love the plank top! The weathered boards look perfect with the painted base. Thanks for sharing.
The wood top is just perfect — I definitely like it better than the glass!
What a deal you got on that awesome table. Love the color and just the perfect amount of rust.
Love the table in its chippy elegance! Using the boards was a great idea!!
This is beautiful. I love old patina too, its just perfect. Old is always better than new! And I love your new top to it, very fitting. Great job
I'm literally drooling over this table – so gorgeous (and a bit envious).
Hope you have a lovely week.
Hugs,
Marie

You've really made beautiful find! The table and the chairs are so adorable! I'm so sorry about the pergola-incident… it does not look good…
But I must say that i think/imagine that the table looks better with this wooden tabletop than the glass one. Nice job!
Have a great tuesday!

Just lovely….your photos inspire me! Thanks!
What a beautiful piece Courtney! Love the wood you used to make the top for it.
Awesome!
Courtney, your table is PERFECT! I couldn't help but laugh at your wit over the crashing pergola! Well, you certainly created a gem out of the rubbish! I have been meaning to come over and tell you 'Congratulations!' on your spread in the recent Romantic Homes mag! Funny thing is, I sat down with a cup of tea, curled up on my couch and enjoyed flipping through the pages, when I came across your table, I immediately said, "I know that table!" I thought either someone did an amazing copy or it was in fact YOURS! What a nice surprise to see your name as the credit! I am so proud of you! I showed my husband and told him I 'knew' you and how exciting! Okay, so I know that is stretching it a bit, but it was so inspiring to see you on the glossy pages! Keep up your lovely work and thanks for stopping by TPL! I am so excited to start the kitchen process! Christie
Perfectly perfect!
Love the photo's of perfect patina inspiration 🙂
